Trio Da Kali - Mali

Trio Da Kali is a celebrated musical ensemble from Mali rooted in the ancient Mandé griot tradition. The trio consists of vocalist Hawa Kassé Mady Diabaté, balafon player Lassana Diabaté, and bass ngoni player Mamadou Kouyaté. They draw on centuries-old West African musical heritage, combining expressive vocals with the intricate rhythms and melodies of the balafon and ngoni to create music that honours tradition while embracing contemporary influences. “Da Kali” means “to give a pledge”, a reference to their dedication to preserving and revitalising their cultural heritage. Trio Da Kali first gained international attention through a collaboration with the Kronos Quartet, releasing the acclaimed album Ladilikan in 2017, and have since performed at prestigious venues and festivals worldwide.

In 2017 they already took to our stage in Hertme, and we are looking forward to welcoming them back again!
