Saad Tiouly - Morocco
Saad Tiouly is a Moroccan Gnawa musician, composer, and performer originally from the old medina of Casablanca. He grew up immersed in traditional Moroccan musical cultures such as Gnawa, Issawa, and other ritual genres, and has developed a distinctive style rooted in tradition but open to innovation. Tiouly is known for playing the guembri (a three-stringed bass lute central to Gnawa music) and for creating his own instruments, blending spiritual trance rhythms with contemporary sounds. Over the past decade he has built a reputation through performances, collaborations, and residencies with musicians both in Morocco and internationally, representing a new generation of artists dedicated to keeping the Gnawa heritage alive while exploring new musical frontiers
