Alogte Oho & His Sounds of Joy - Ghana

Alogte Oho is born from a Frafra-father and an Akim-mother, and he grew up in the rain forests of southern Ghana, before he moved to the lands of the Frafra in the savannah of northern Ghana as a young boy. Grewing up in Namoo, his father's native village, he was deeply impressed by the the glorious moments he experienced during the service in the village church. All that singing and playing the drums made him be the first in church each Sunday, long before the church services would start.

He could not wait until he was old enough to become part of the church choir himself. His wish finally became true when he turned thirteen and he instantly got his first studio session with the choir.

After graduating he focused on his own career as a Frafra-religious singer. In 2007 he released his first record, but it lasted five years before his breakthrough as a singer.

In his twenties, a serious accident nearly killed him. While he was in the hospital, he wrote his gloriously famous song “Mam Yinne Wa” ('God, You Love Me So') – as a thank you for surviving the accident. He still performs that song all over the world to this day. Be sure to watch this performance in church and practice the steps so that you are well prepared in Hertme!

Alogte Oho surrounded himself with a group of musicians, His Sounds of Joy, and after the release of his third record in 2012, that also contained the song "Mam Yinne Wa", he was booked for almost all festivals and celebrations in the region and he was also invited by nearly all the uncountable Frafra-communities throughout Ghana. In 2021 they toured through Europe for the first time and we are looking forward to their first performance in Hertme.
